Turning colder for late week

From what is shown in the current models, is that tomorrow should be another day of a few showers here/here as a weak area of low pressure currently off the Oregon coast sinks slowly southward during the day tomorrow. So tomorrow probably will be similar of today. Some morning clouds, few shower and then afternoon sunshine with perhaps more in the way of clearing than what we had today. So highs likely in the 50`s once again with any afternoon sunshine we get. And showers should be in the 'slim' chance category as that low sinks south. Now a for late week....Thurs/Fri, models still show a trough working it`s way into the PNW, but appears that this first trough will be sliding east of us and not getting much the colder air that comes with it. However, the latest installment of the GFS models as well as the EURO/ Ensembles and Canadian model, and including tonights WRF... still show a deep and COLD trough working it`s way over WA/OR by late Sun into Monday, though appears the cold front blasts through here around Sat afternoon with 925mb to about -4c behind the front.

Once this front comes through Sat afternoon, upper level temps (850, 925, 500mb) really take a dive as a cold trough settles in over our region for late weekend and into early next work week with temps just above the surface not even getting close to the 0c(32F) mark. So it appears we will be staying on the very cool side this weekend through at least early next week.

The attached maps are 850 and 925mb and show temps for 10am this Friday. As you can see, a rather CHILLY air mass over us for the weekend with some cold air, but main bunch of cold air comes late weekend as it currently looks that way. Some spotty snow still looks possible, but it wont be anything wide spread. At least not that it appears right now. As for temps, am still going with highs in the 30`s to very low 40`s with lows in the 20`s for the weekend.

  1. Yeah, like last time, I`m not expecting much of any snow. Maybe a litttle here/there, but thats it.
