Thought I should do a post here on the arctic front encase you may be wondering about it.
So right now and per the 6pm inferred satellite imagery, the arctic frontal boundary is still over southern BC this evening as you can see by the attached satellite image this evening. The imagery loop shows it making slow progress toward Western Wa. In precip mode, the 12zWRF is showing lots of precip over western WA with good coverage for the Mom morning hours, however the air will be drying out and moisture being limited with this front. And Seattle NWS also mentions about a quick couple inches possible. This seems reasonable given the dry coming in.
If you take a close look at the 12z 925mb chart for 5pm tomorrow, and if you see the -8c blue line, you will see that is our arctic frontal boundary just crossing the CA/WA border which appears to come through the central sound by late in the evening. This also what will bring COLD over nights lows in the mid-upper teens to low 20`s for many locales for Tue/Wed morning as it appears on this mornings run. 850mb temps also plunge and dip down to around -12 to -13c. So should be some COLD nights with chilly days as the model also shows highs in the 30`s to near 40.
How much snow do you think Olympia could get by tomorrow morning? Is it likely that we could at least get a snow shower here tonight? Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI think it`s possible we all could see some snow tomorrow morning, but accumulation will be light but it`s also possible we could perhaps see moderate snow at times. But as far as accumulations go, would say around 3" for most spots.
