Cold and snow for the weekend

Some very chilly and unsettled weather is still looking likely for the weekend folks. And as you can see by the attached 925mb map for 10am Sat, as well as the 850mb map for same time frame, that the next batch of cold air is already coming in for early Sat morning. So with VERY COOL temps aloft and strong NWLY flow, the likely hood of spotty snow exists over the Puget sound lowlands as a very cold and near -40c 500mb trough settles over our region for the weekend.

So with a cold and showery trough over us and along with very low snow levels, just about anyone could see some snow showers over the weekend but would say more likely to see snow during the night time hours when temps are coldest. Also to note that the 12zGFS is showing a PSCZ for LATE Sat night into Sun morning, and if that does happen, then a good few inches may be seen. Other wise, am not expecting much in the way of accumulations.

As for highs, am still thinking highs in the 30`s to lower 40`s with lows in the 20`s. So if you have set out any spring time sensitive plants, you`ll want to protect them.

Our cool and unsettled conditions looks to last through about mid week, in which then a ridge of sorts might take place off the west coast as shown the 00zEURO/12zGFS and MRF. But we`ll see what happens over the weekend first.
