Showers at times through mid-week

Good evening to all.

From what the latest models show tonight, 18z & 00zGFS/00zWRF, is that the Mon-Wed period will be continued a bit cool as thicknesses appear to be anywhere from the mid 520`s to the mid 530`s with continued SW flow just above the surface. And as you folks know, these bands of showers will be riding up our way due to an area of low pressure that will continue to spin in place off the west coast. Will be some dry periods in between showers and maybe even a few sun breaks if we can squeeze them in. High will probably be a tad cooler than today, but looks like we could see highs in the upper 40`s to low 50`s from the WRF is showing

As for later in the week, that is still up air as some models want to put troughing over us while others wants to show ridging of sorts, and the 12zEURO is a good example. It shows ridging for the weekend vs last nights 00z that showed an upper level trough over our region. But I`m thinking there will probably be some flip flopping in various models between now and later this coming week. Though if the trough dose come in as shown by some of the models, then we can expect more cool and unsettled conditions and low snow levels. So lets keep checking those models.

Just as side note, 925mb temps
still look pretty cold for late next weekend as what appears to be a modified arctic air mass drops down over the PNW.

  1. Looks like our seattle office missed the wind up here in Bellingham. The Canadian folks were calling for it though.

  2. Pretty windy here earlier this morning as well. Would say wind gusts in the 40`s maybe even 50. And this was all due that little second area of low pressure that spun up down wind of the original low. The second low, though not the classic swrill, still gave decent winds here.

And just to name a few places, Sea-Tac had a 23mph wind with gust to 37mph while Pierce County Thun-Field came in with gusts to between 31 and 36mph. Also appears Arlington airport has been pretty windy with gusts up to 31mph with Bellingham International Airport coming in with a gust up to 53mph. So fairly breey to windy out there this morning.

  3. Actually Joseph....this was during the pre-dawn hours of this morning that the breezy to windy conditions took place and if you take look at the satellite loop from the past 12/24hrs, you`ll see that little second area of low ride right up along the OR/WA coast.
