Possibly nice weather this upcoming weekend

Good evening to all.

After looking at some of the models this evening and from this morning, it appears that the models over past several days look to be in general agreement about some split-flow with narrow ridge aloft and at the surface. Models kinda differ about how this will turn out, but it seems to be that the upper level jet will be aimed at Oregon or California in which we may possibly maintain at least partly cloudy skies for late in the week and into the weekend. On the 18zGFS, you see that the narrow ridge extends all the way up into Canada. The end result will be weakening/ splitting systems as they enter the...oh lets call this the 'high magnitude ridge', with parts of the frontal system heading well south of us. For past couple/few days now, the models have been showing a weak system heading into Oregon or California by Sat or Sunday......hence the split flow. But it looks as if this ridge might last into maybe Sun, though a frontal system looks to be sliding in during this time. So we`ll see. But so far, it does appear that we`ll see milder temps, but still comfortable over the weekend.

Feel free to comment, ect. :o)

  1. Wow, that was quite the downpour we had around 6 or so this evening, huh? I live in Totem Lake which is pretty close to where you live so I imagine you experienced nearly the same thing. Weird thing was the cells rolled in from the east instead of the usual west. Apparently this situation was set up because these clouds formed as air rose up and over the mountains as it went from east to west, resulting in some pretty good downpours. I was glad to see the rain so I didn't have to water the new plants and grass seeds.

  2. Yeah, some areas got a good down pour. Though I only had some light rain but did have a couple flashes of lightning with couple rumbles of thunder. Heard from a friend this morning that saw a spotter report of a weak wall cloud in the Auburn area.

  4. Well if ya all feel like driving through the pass and maybe to the foot hills of the eastern side of the Cascades, Bryan, you may find some sun there. You going for the entire Sat/Sun period or just one of the two days.

Right now from what I saw this morning, Fri looks to be the best day for sunshine in the mountains with maybe Sat as well, though that remains questionable as rain/showers look to come into our region around Early Sat.
